When Will I See You Again? by Venetta Butcher
    Mixed media installation
Made from found and recycled items.

  2. Psych: Pineapple || Doctor Who: Fish Fingers & Custard || Sherlock: IOU Apple || Supernatural: Slice of Pie

I’ve done it. I’ve achieved the “plush food inspired by fandom” Superfecta (though one is actually a puppet). I’m counting the pie, even though it should probably be plaid or heavily armed or something. It was that or an evil sandwich It’s, you know, interpretive fandom. I’ll go back to my “serious crafter” bunker now. Where I may have to figure out plush shawarma

  3. Slice of Sassy Pie. Made from anti-pill fleece, combination of wool and acrylic felt hand sewn fruit and whipped cream. Measures about 6.5” long x 4.5” across back and 4” tall with toppings (a bit bigger than life).

I will be expanding flavors, but pies with fruit pieces in them, etc., are a more complicated endeavor (don’t want to just change the color and declare it cherry). But I am open to flavor suggestions.

On Etsy: Lemon || Key Lime || Chocolate Silk

I waited to post these til it was Supernatural Wednesday because I’m a dork. Dean Winchester requests that you not forget the pie.

  4. After a whole lot of popular demand, I’ve brought back dandelions; in a monster version! (Okay, so I ran out of white fur, but I prototyped these guys a while back and thought it was cute in colors.) I sold some at C2E2 but I just finished these! All are about 11” tall in their pot. Stems and leaves are poseable, removable from pot if you want to “replant” it. Faux fur can be smoothed down or fluffed up as you prefer.

    On Etsy: White/hot pink/green || Lime green/blue || Purple/yellow/orange

  5. This weekend! If you are in NY or the vicinity, head up to Beacon, NY. Apparently they have at *least* five things to do; and one of them is this soft sculpture/plush gallery show, Stitched, which is going to be AWESOME. Hosted at the gallery of the amazing magazine Clutter, and curated by the equally amazing Lana Crooks (whose piece I want to steal). Linkage: FB invite if you’re going / Sign up for the preview list for first dibs on works / direct link to the show after it opens

This is my piece! His name is Raziel and he is the first “Celestial Tier” Sprite. So I showered him with fanciness, including three pairs of magnetic wings, a crown with a fake opal I made, and a light-up galaxy in his stomach. 14” tall with a 22” wingspan, and more different materials and beads/sequins/rhinestones than you can shake a stick at; including a bunch of stuff that doesn’t photograph, like custom iridescent glitter eyes with stars in them and a handmade “opal”.

Honestly I’ve never had so many things inexplicably go wrong! He must have been making sure I gave him the attention he deserved. But he’s on his way, and I’m getting used to spending my days and long (LONG) nights trying to put right what isn’t yet done. My only guide on this journey is Al Net-hulu-zon… uh *cough* *exit stage right*

  6. “you don’t have to be able to see where you’re going to find your way”

Fluffy Chicken: the state national official bird of tumblr. Symbol of determination, teamwork, and following your dreams. And just really wanting something for no good reason. Also, one of my con exclusives for C2E2 at the end of the month (booth 961). Made from two types of silky faux fur, with a wool felt beak and safety eyes (they’re under there), and feet complete with a fur “sock” just like the real ones. Measures 10” tall and can be posed sitting or standing (with light back support).

    Isn’t it majestic

  7. Plush prototype: Bedevilled Egg. About 4”. Need to finagle legs so it stands reliably without putting a wing on Nick Fury’s face. Have already had more than one convo about what type of wings demons have. Far as I know, they look like Mark Sheppard so…

You’re looking at The First (and Last) Tribble to Join Starfleet. This adorably tragic little creature was created by artist Michal Wright-Ward for Beam Me Up, a Star Trek-themed group art show held by the Q POP shop and mini gallery.

Seems like a (nearly) ideal solution to the redshirt problem! If only it could hold a phaser…

About me

I am A. Darkly and I am a plush artist, a writer, a photographer, a retired cosplayer, an artist, and a geek. I'm roughly the age of TWO average Tumblrites combined but everyone thinks I look 16. :\

I'm new to actually posting on Tumblr and still getting the hang of it. I'll mostly be posting my artwork/plush, but will pass along cool stuff too! I'm almost 100% SFW.
